Overview
Dr. Guitao Yang is a Lecturer at the Centre for Software Reliability (CSR), City St George’s University of London. He received the B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Manchester, U.K., in 2016, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Control Systems from Imperial College London, U.K., in 2017 and 2022, respectively. From 2022 to 2025, he was a Research Associate with the Control and Power Group at Imperial College London, working on the KIOS project. His research there focused on developing theoretical foundations for the resilience of critical infrastructure. From 2025 to 2026, he was a Research Associate at the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University, where he developed and implemented reinforcement learning methods for safe motion control of self-balancing two-wheeled vehicles.
His research interests lie in control theory, cyber-physical systems security, and statistical learning. He is particularly interested in approaches that integrate physical system structure and domain knowledge with learning-based methods, rather than applying generic learning techniques without justification.
