Overview
Dr Georgantzia is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering in the Department of Engineering at City St George's, University of London. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Member of Women’s Engineering Society (WES). She is engaged in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Her past research focused on the development and use of advanced experimental and numerical modelling techniques for structural assessment and evaluation of aluminium and composite aluminium-(geopolymer) concrete structures.
She is a member of the new fib Task Group (TG) 1.1.7: Performance Evaluation and Service Life Extension of Existing Bridges.
Her vision is to create innovative and transformative engineering solutions for new and existing civil engineering structures and bridges, contributing to the UK/international Net-Zero target.
Her current research and future research plans aim to:
- Develop new design & construction technologies for new more sustainable and resilient civil engineering structures and bridges
- Develop new low-carbon and sustainable repair & life-extension techniques for existing ageing civil engineering structures and bridges
- Develop holistic approaches for sustainability- and resilience-based infrastructure asset management
