About
Overview
Corinna joined City, University of London in 2011 and is now Professor of Clinical Psychology and Neuroscience.
She trained as a psychologist completing her BSc in Psychology in Germany before then completing a PhD in Psychology from the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience and Behaviour, Imperial College School of Medicine, London, UK. Her PhD research investigated human fast cortical oscillations during auditory change detection using EEG.
Subsequent to her PhD she worked as a post-doctoral research fellow and later as a principal investigator in a multidisciplinary research unit jointly affiliated to the Max-Planck Institute for Brain Research and the University Clinic of Psychiatry, Frankfurt, Germany.
Whilst working in Frankfurt she also successfully trained to be a chartered clinical psychologist (with a predominant focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Following this she spent two years at the Department of Psychology, Bangor University as a Senior Research Fellow before joining City, UoL.

Research
Research overview
Dr Haenschel's research interest is in applying behavioural measures, neurophysiological techniques and functional imaging during cognitive tasks in both normal and clinical populations.
Specifically, her research is based around the study of memory in healthy controls and people with cognitive dysfunctions using EEG, especially the role of event-related potentials and neural synchrony in cognition and their relevance for cognitive dysfunctions and pathophysiology. Her focus has been particularly in understanding the role of early stimulus encoding on visual working memory performance. She is also interested in understanding student mental health and has developed a longitudinal program of research in collaboration with Drs Gaigg & Fett to investigate the determinants of mental health in students. As part of that we organised a knowledge exchange event on COVID-19 and student mental health.
