Research

Research overview

Dr Haenschel's research interest is in applying behavioural measures, neurophysiological techniques and functional imaging during cognitive tasks in both normal and clinical populations.

Specifically, her research is based around the study of memory in healthy controls and people with cognitive dysfunctions using EEG, especially the role of event-related potentials and neural synchrony in cognition and their relevance for cognitive dysfunctions and pathophysiology. Her focus has been particularly in understanding the role of early stimulus encoding on visual working memory performance. She is also interested in understanding student mental health and has developed a longitudinal program of research in collaboration with Drs Gaigg & Fett to investigate the determinants of mental health in students. As part of that we organised a knowledge exchange event on COVID-19 and student mental health.
