Overview
Dr Bharath Ravikumar is a Lecturer in Energy Systems and Engineered Fluids. He has a decade of research experience spanning academia and industry. His research expertise lies in multiscale simulation of complex fluids and materials, including atomistic molecular dynamics, mesoscale modelling, machine learning, and optimisation techniques. His work has contributed to the understanding and design of heat transfer fluids, battery electrolytes, nanofluids, polymer solutions, and biomolecular systems, with applications in electrification, thermal management, and energy storage.
Prior to joining City St George's, Dr. Ravikumar worked as a Researcher at Tata Consultancy Services Limited, where he developed computational frameworks for the design and optimisation of advanced battery electrolytes. He completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at City St George's, University of London, focusing on the development of novel dielectric fluids for battery immersion-cooling applications under the Horizon 2020 IBAT project. He further pursued his postdoctoral research on complex-rheology liquids under the EIC funded E-COOL project at City.
Dr. Ravikumar has extensive experience in scientific computing and simulation software, including LAMMPS, Python, C++, machine learning frameworks, and high-performance computing environments. His research combines physics-based modelling, data-driven methods, and computational optimisation to accelerate materials and fluid design. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals across molecular simulation, thermofluids, and energy materials, and has a patent relating to the in-silico design and optimisation of battery electrolytes. His research has been recognised through several academic awards, including the Bhagyalakshmi and Krishna Ayengar Award at Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
