Overview
Dr. Bakhtiar is a Lecturer in Computer Science at City St George's, University of London, specialising in Artificial Intelligence and Distributed Machine Learning. His research focuses on developing scalable and autonomous solutions for complex data analytics problems, particularly in the context of Big Data (3V's) domain.
He obtained both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees (with distinction) from the University of Huddersfield. In 2014, he was awarded a Vice-Chancellor Scholarship to pursue doctoral research on "Distributed Contextual Anomaly Detection from Big Data Event Streams" under the supervision of Professor Grigoris Antoniou and Dr. Violeta Holmes.
Prior to joining City St George's, University of London, Dr. Bakhtiar collaborated with esteemed academics and NHS partners on healthcare projects funded by Locala Health and Wellbeing. This research involved developing and optimising AI-based models for the early detection and prediction of diabetic neuropathy (foot diabetes risk).
Dr. Bakhtiar has also collaborated with various national and international partners, including Birmingham City Council, Aston University, Birmingham City University, Telensa, EnableID, Innovation Birmingham, the West Midlands Combined Authority, the University of Danang in Vietnam, and the Systems Analytics Research Institute (SARI). These partnerships have significantly strengthened his expertise in fostering innovative solutions and advancing AI, Big Data, and distributed machine learning research.
In addition to his research and teaching,
Dr. Bakhtiar possesses a strong track record in both academic and administrative roles and held teaching and research roles at prestigious institutions, including the University of Liverpool and Aston University. He contributed to several high-impact research projects, such as the Big Data Corridor (funded by the European Regional Development Fund - ERDF) and MISTRAL (funded by the University of Liverpool).
