Athanasia Niarrou

Overview

Athanasia joined City, University of London in December 2021 as a Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice. She has a strong background and passion for advanced clinical practice, leadership, and critical care, and brings a wealth of expertise to her role.

Athanasia was appointed as Programme Director of the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Apprenticeship in August 2023 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). She is responsible for the design and delivery of the curriculum, and contributes to the teaching of programme modules, such as End Point Assessment, ACP Portfolio, Professional Leadership, and Advanced Clinical Assessment.

Originally trained in Greece, Athanasia embarked on her career in critical care nursing in the United Kingdom. Prior to joining academia, she worked as a Senior Critical Care Nurse at University College London Hospitals until the end of the first wave of the pandemic. In September 2020, Athanasia transitioned to academia as a Lecturer in Nursing at London South Bank University.
