Dr Ana Keglevic Steffek

Overview

Ana is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the City Law School. Ana served as the Director of the research Centre for Access to Justice and Inclusion, Faculty Research and Innovation Committee Member, Faculty Academic Integrity Lead, Postgraduate (LLM) Programme Director and REF Reviewer at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. She specialises in commercial and contract law (including European, international and transnational aspects), consumer law, insurance law, comparative law, e-commerce and digital market, legal technology, arbitration and ADR.

Ana has held visiting positions at the University of Oxford (IECL), UNIDROIT (Rome), the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg), the University of Cambridge (St John’s College) and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (London).

Ana is engaged in several EU Commission and World Bank funded scientific projects. She is also the Secretary of the Consumer Protection and Dispute Resolution Working Party of the International Insurance Law Association (AIDA), a Member of the International Academy of Comparative Law, a Council Member of the Society of Legal Scholars (UK), a Member of British Institute of Comparative Law (UK). Ana is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a member of the Law and Technology Education Network, the University of Oxford (UK). She is a fellow of the Advance HE (ex Higher Education Academy, HEA).

Before her academic career, she was an attorney at law advising on international commercial law, company law and contract law and acted as Assistant to the Secretary General of the Croatian Permanent Arbitration Court and Mediation Centre.

Ana served as a Member of the ELI Council and ELI Membership Committee for two terms. She was an Assessor of the joint ELI/ALI Project on Principles for a Data Economy: Data Rights and Transactions, and a Member of the Consultative Committee (MCC) of the ELI Project on Model Rules on Online Intermediary Platforms. At the moment she acts as the Co-Chair of the ELI Dispute Resolution Special Interest Group (SIG) and Advisory Committee Member for the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Project on Cogenerated Data (ELI).

Ana would be happy to supervise PhD students in her areas of expertise.
