Aleksandra Hristova

Overview

Aleksandra is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director for the MSc Psychological Therapies with Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. She joined City St George's, University of London in 2024 to design and develop the course drawing on 10 years of experience as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner working with people with common mental health conditions, and expertise in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LICBT).

Aleksandra is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. She has held several clinical, supervisory and leadership role in different NHS Talking Therapies services, working closely with PWPs, Senior PWPs, and Leads and supporting their clinical and professional development.

Aleksandra's educational experience dates back to her clinical educator role at the University of Exeter where she was involved with several PWP programmes with a particular interest of widening participation and reducing barriers to inclusivity in training. During that time she authored the LICBT guide on working with panic disorder, Panic Not (2021). She also worked with the British Psychological Society to design and implement the first End Point Assessment for the PWP Apprenticeship route.

Aleksandra's clinical interests include supporting people with long-term health conditions, group working and dynamics, and working with co-morbidity. Aleksandra is a Fellow with the Higher Education Academy.
