SPARC Lab (or SPARCL) for research in immersive sound, image, and movement is based in the Department of Performing Arts at City St George's, University London and its research centre SPARC (Sound Practice and Research at City St George's).
Immersion
What can immersive sound make possible? SPARC Lab empowers artists to create immersive music to reach new audiences. Its mission is to widen access for artistic creators to technologies for immersive audio, which can be defined as sound that situates listeners in the midst of a three-dimensional (3-D) spatial scene. SPARC Lab is supported by an AHRC CResCa (Creative Research Capability) grant. Learn more about SPARC Lab research.
Software
The SPARCL GitHub repository is a forum for users to share software for use with SPARCL including tools for sound spatialisation with Higher-Order Ambisonic (HOA), the IKO 20-channel spherical loudspeaker array, and EM64 Eigenmike.
