Human Rights Law Course overview
How can human rights law be applied to suspected terrorists? How does freedom of expression concern articles that may appear obscene?
When you study Human Rights Law by joining our introductory short course, you will discuss human rights and the rights and obligations of the state and individuals.
Delivered over 10 online sessions, our Human Rights Law course examines the application of fundamental human rights to various areas of law, including family, criminal, refugee and employment law.
Throughout the ten weeks, you’ll engage in lively discussions related to current and complex human rights issues. You’ll discuss and debate everything from treatment of aliens to liberty and security.
This human rights law course may be beneficial as a taster for those considering studying a degree in Law, before committing further.

You will learn:

Assessment and certificates
Classes includes a mix of lectures and group discussion. You will be invited to contribute by presenting personally prepared topics.
Your tutor may suggest written work to supplement the lectures and in-class exercises may be used to test your knowledge.
You will be awarded an official City St George's, University of London certificate if you attend above 70 percent of the classes, however, our short courses are not formally accredited.
Eligibility
No formal qualifications are required, only an enthusiasm for the subject of human rights law.
English requirements
You will need a good level of spoken and written English to enrol on this course.
