The Sexual Health Update Days are suitable for nurses and other health professionals working in women's health, family planning, contraception or sexual health. They provide updates on timely and topical issues in the field.
The course covers history-taking, signs and symptoms, sample-taking and treatment.
Who is it for?
This course is relevant to qualified healthcare professionals and nurses working in the GP practice setting, women's health, family planning, contraception or sexual health. This course is not aimed at staff already working in the field of genito-urinary medicine.

This sexual health course runs over one full day.

What will I learn?
You will learn:
- How to take a history in relation to sexual health in a non-GU setting
- Understanding and Management of vaginal discharge.
- Fraser guidelines and care in situations that could be of concern.
- The signs, symptoms and treatment of the commonest sexually transmitted infections
- How to screen and diagnose these conditions
- HPV and the impact on health
Assessment and certificates
The teaching will be on line and will be a live presentation using a power point presentation, storytelling, scenarios, questions and answers and quizzes.
There is no formal assessment to this day. A certificate will be issued after the session via email.
This course is worth 7 CPD hours.
