What were you doing before you came to study at City St George's, University of London?
I was a student at another university studying a different course.
How did you develop an interest in Nursing and why did you choose to study this course?
I have always been interested in working with children, but my college teacher made it seem like my previous university course was my only option.
It wasn’t until 2 years into studying that course that I realised how unhappy I was and finally decided to choose what was best for me - studying something I love. That is when I found Children's Nursing!
Why did you choose to study at City St George's?
I chose to study at City St George's because it has one of the highest rankings for my chosen course, ensuring a top-quality education.

What has been your favourite thing about studying this course?
One thing that I absolutely love about Children’s Nursing at City St George’s is that we have the chance to start placements in our 1st year, giving us more insight, knowledge and understanding of what it’s like to work in hospitals.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City St George's?
I love how diverse it is! There are people from all around the world, creating a rich and vibrant atmosphere on campus. This diversity offers a unique opportunity to learn from individuals with different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.
You not only get to hear about their cultures, but you can also immerse yourself in their traditions, customs, and ways of thinking. It’s an enriching experience that broadens your worldview, fosters greater empathy, and allows you to build meaningful connections with people from all corners of the globe.

How have you found the teaching and facilities on your course?
Absolutely incredible! The lecturers are not only experts in their fields but are also genuinely dedicated to supporting students.
They are always happy to answer any questions, provide extra help, or address any concerns you may have, ensuring that you never feel alone in your academic journey. The university’s environment is truly student-centred, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere for learning.
Additionally, the city itself offers many great facilities, both within and outside the university. From state-of-the-art libraries and study spaces to recreational areas and social hubs, you’ll have access to everything you need to thrive academically and personally.

Placements
Where have you been on your clinical placements, and what have you enjoyed most about these experiences?
I have not yet started my placement, but during orientation week, we were taught how to use a glucose meter device and how to address any errors that might appear while the device is in use.
How will these experiences help you with your future career?
Starting hospital placements in my first year of university will offer valuable benefits in my career.
It will provide me with hands-on experience, help me develop key professional skills like communication and teamwork, and allow me to explore different healthcare specialties.
Placements will also build my network, increase employability, and give me a deeper understanding of healthcare systems.
What would be your advice to students about to start their first placement experience.
Enjoy it because it goes fast! Before you know it, you will be graduating and stepping into the big world!
What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?
A lot of things! The main one is that I run my own business. I like to go to the gym and dance classes each week. I love baking travelling and exploring new places.
Advice for others
What would be your advice to anyone considering studying this course?
Just do it! You won’t regret it. It’s challenging, but in the end, it will be worth it. Think about the lives you could save and the impact you can make.
The challenges will only make you stronger and more skilled, and every step you take brings you closer to a rewarding career where you can truly make a difference. Remember great things never came from comfort zones!
