Overview
Seraphine began her academic journey as a research assistant at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, developing longitudinal biomarkers for chronic stress, analyzing hair samples for cortisol and publishing a lab protocol extraction method for Salimetrics Laboratories. It was during this position that she was awarded the Salimetrics Europe 2014 prize for Health Psychology Research.
Seraphine went on to a Masters degree in Research Methodology and Quantitative Statistics for Psychology at the University of Essex and achieved a Distinction. It was during this time that Seraphine collaborated with renowned Cognitive Bias Researcher, Bundy Mackintosh and Seraphine began her research in Experimental Psychiatry. An Economic Social Research Council scholarship soon followed and Seraphine began her Doctoral Research Program under the supervision of Bundy Mackintosh & Nick Cooper at the Center for Brain Sciences, Psychology, University of Essex. Seraphine has since presented research at international conferences and has a keen interest in giving public engagement talks to improve the accessibility of Science to the public. Seraphine has held positions as PI on Research fellowship roles at the University of Essex and also as a Senior Data Analyst for a Office for Students, National Collaborative Outreach Consortia.
Seraphine is a member of the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies and a Chartered Psychologist, CPsychol, of the British Psychological Society. Seraphine's research interests have developed into student wellbeing, engagement, pedagogy and student experience. Seraphine leads an eduation research group and is an active member of national and international teaching excellence networks; RAISE Researching, Advancing & Inspiring Student Engagement, SoTL International Society for the Schloarship of Teaching & Learning, SRHE Society for Research into Higher Education & NERUPI Network, Evaluating & Researching University Participation Interventions.
In Seraphine's freetime, she is captain of a Netball team in a competitive league, and has won a season league trophy. She volunteers for charity New Bridge and enjoys walks with her Old English Bulldog.
