About

Overview

Martin is a Chartered Psychologist and joined City University in November 2010 as the Project Coordinator for two large cluster RCTs of telehealth and telecare. Martin previously worked at University College London (UCL).

Martin studied Psychology (BSc) and Health Psychology (MSc) at Staffordshire University before taking a post at the Health Behaviour Unit (UCL) working on a longitudinal study of adolescence health behaviour. He moved to the Health Psychology Unit at the Institute of Psychiatry (KCL) to complete his PhD examining medical help-seeking behaviour in middle-aged men and after a further two years in the Health Care Evaluation Group (UCL) investigating access to antenatal care, he joined the Centre for Behavioural Medicine (UCL). He joined the Centre for Health Services Research at City University in November 2010.

Martin's is currently involved in evaluating the impact of telehealth and telecare on quality of life outcomes and patient self-care behaviour. Other projects focus on technology and health (mobile app development, gamification, serious gaming), development and evaluation of new questionnaire instruments, feasibility testing of a novel intervention for children with autism and an evaluation of an intervention to improve well-being during pregnancy. His research draws on a range of methodologies (quantitative, qualitative and systematic reviews) and study designs.
