Overview
Dr Julian Hargreaves is Associate Dean for Portfolio Development and Recruitment in the School for Policy and Global Affairs and a Senior Lecturer in Quantitative Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Criminology, City St George's, University of London where he currently teaches on topics related to social research and British policing. He is also an Affiliated Researcher at the Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge.
He holds a PhD in Applied Social Science and an MRes (Distinction) in Criminology from Lancaster University, a GDL and LPC from the University of Law and a BA (Hons) in Historical Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University.
His duties as Associate Dean include the development of new undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes for the School and developing and delivering its school engagement and student recruitment strategies. His research interests include minoritised ethnic and religious communities in the UK, statistics, the criminal justice system and public sector, terrorism and counter-terrorism, and wider issues concerning prejudice, discrimination and social cohesion. In a half-forgotten previous life, he worked as an A&R man in the British music industry.
