About
Overview
Dr Anna Lambrechts is a cognitive neuroscientist whose work explores the unique experiences of autistic individuals with regards to perceiving, processing, and remembering information over time. Trained at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris, she completed her PhD at City, University of London under the supervision of Prof Sebastian Gaigg and Dr Kielan Yarrow, investigating time perception and the temporal dynamics of communication in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Her research interests span autism, temporal processing, memory, and emotional wellbeing, and the experiences of individuals with complex support needs, from childhood through adulthood. Across her work, she aims to understand how cognitive processes unfold in real‑world contexts and how this knowledge can meaningfully support autistic people’s daily lives.
Dr Lambrechts’ current research focuses on three interconnected areas:
- Supporting autistic children and young people in schools, with a focus on mental health, wellbeing, and inclusive educational environments.
- Characterising learning and memory processes in autism.
- Rethinking research practices to meaningfully involve autistic people, including those with complex support needs, ensuring their perspectives shape both methods and outcomes.
Her work combines psychology, cognitive neuroscience and participatory approaches to advance understanding and improve support for autistic people across the lifespan.
