Alison studied Midwifery at Canterbury Christ Church University gaining her degree in 2005. She worked as a Staff Midwife on the Special Care Baby Unit at Maidstone hospital before leaving in 2007 to join City University to complete her Post Graduate Diploma in Children's Nursing. On completion she was offered a job as a Staff Nurse at The Royal London Hospital on a children's trauma and orthopaedic ward. During the redevelopment of the children's services at Barts Health NHS Trust, the ward increased its speciality to include surgical patients. She was promoted to ward Sister in January 2013 and has taken on the role of Student Link nurse, Key Mentor and Sign-off mentor. Alison was involved in being part of a further redevelopment to the ward, increasing the capacity to 24 and adding gastroenterology into the ward speciality.
She joined City University as a part time lecturer and focuses most of her teaching on simulation, skill practice, and acute care. She is the Senior Personal Tutor for the Child Nursing branch and maintains a strong and supportive outlook to student pastoral care.
