Tuberculosis (TB) kills more people than any other infectious disease. Yet, TB is completely curable with antibiotics. Join us on Thursday 7th May to find out why TB persists despite medical advances, and what you can do to support people with TB in your community.
About the event
This public engagement event is part of the Spotlight on Science series and is open to everyone. It aims to raise awareness of tuberculosis (TB), a global health issue that continues to affect millions of people worldwide, while also showcasing the important research taking place at City St George’s.
Bringing together researchers, clinicians, and individuals with lived experience, the event will offer a mix of talks, interactive sessions, and a live Q&A. It’s designed to be informative, accessible, and engaging, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about TB, ask questions, and explore the latest developments in research and treatment.
What to expect
The event will be structured across four sessions, followed by a Q&A:
- Why should I care about TB?
- From breath to illness: how TB makes you sick
- Meet the expert: how we can stop TB
- Life with TB: personal stories from TB survivors
Whether you have a general interest in science or want to better understand the impact of TB, this event offers a valuable opportunity to learn and engage.
