Built by Ugandan Asian immigrants who came penniless in 1972 and opened this grand cultural and community space in 1995, this hub is a testament to the power of faith-based leadership and a truly open-minded approach to embracing bio-diversity and respecting all living beings, not just humans. It serves as a laboratory of the future for social scientists keen to reverse the anthropocene. During the pandemic, it became a health centre for all local people.
Writer and broadcaster Professor Atul K. Shah has been associated with this project before it was built and is voluntarily leading a guided tour and discussion for staff at City, University of London. Leaders who have visited often say it is one of the most memorable trips of their life.
Tour organised by Professor Atul K. Shah and Puneet Patel, upcoming Chair of City Hindu Student Society. Organised in conjunction with the student experience office and the Faith and Belief Staff Affinity Network.
