Russian Intermediate (part 3)

Part 3 will teach you how to discuss travel plans and accommodation; and hold detailed discussions on your work activities and leisure preferences.

You’ll practice using ordinal numbers, demonstrative pronouns and open questions through activities and games.

You’ll also examine cultural and political contexts and learn about the media and its different forms, using a range of written sources and audio-visual content.

This is the final intermediate module leading CEFR B1 level for language learning.

Who is it for?

Start here if you have completed part 2 at intermediate level or you have studied Russian for around 160 hours. You may have a good or recent GCSE in Russian or be able to communicate at CEFR A1. The eligibility section has more information.

Timetable

This course takes place one evening a week at 18:30 for 10 weeks.

You will be awarded an official City St George’s, University of London certificate on completion of the course if you attend over 70 per cent of the classes. The course is not formally accredited.

Any assessment will be informal to help you evaluate your own progress.

Teaching

Our Russian courses are designed to develop your skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing the language.

With our “flipped learning” approach you receive the lesson content in advance, giving you more time to practice and gain confidence. You’ll spend more actively participating in role play scenarios and group discussions.

This course is for you if you’ve already studied Russian for around 160 hours and can handle complex grammar structures.

• have completed part 2 of our Russian Intermediate course, or equivalent elsewhere
• have a good or recent GCSE
• can confidently communicate at CEFR A2 level, according to the Common European Framework of languages
• have a good and recent GCSE in Russian.

You should already know:

• how to talk about trips and plan celebrations
• how to explain various illnesses
• reflexive verbs
• the passive voice
• the passive voice of reflective verbs
• indirect speech.
