Developing Professional Practise Course overview
You will learn through a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops, as well as self-directed study. All classes will be delivered using hybrid technology to allow teaching simultaneously to students who are situated both on campus and online. Academic staff will be available at dedicated times for online support and discussion forums.
Who is it for?
This course is for those who want to enhance their employability via various transferable skills. You will learn alongside students of MSc Applied Nutrition, and will have opportunities to discuss and share issues with your peers.

The module will run for 10 weeks from 30th January 2025 to 3rd April 2025 on Thursdays (11.00-14.00).

Assessment and certificates
There are 30 contact hours comprised of lectures, workshops, seminars and a laboratory session, and 130 self-direct hours during the study of the module.
Formative assessment
Complete the online quiz of online quiz of self-assessment on your digital skills that asks you questions about the specific skills you will require whilst at City and will email you a tailored list of support in relation to your answers. Complete at least one self-assessment on a digital skill at LinkedIn learning and submit evidence of Pass to the module leader.
Summative assessment
There are two summative assessments. p
- You are required to write a 1,500-word professional development plan (PDP).
- Deliver an individual presentation of your professional development plan (10-minute presentation plus 5 minutes for questions) on a specified professional path.
The pass mark of the module is 50%.
You will be provided a proof of completion after you successfully complete the module.
Credits
This course is worth 15 credits toward eligible programmes.
Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for this module if you have a BSc degree in any subjects.
English requirements
IELTS 6.5, with no individual section less than 6.0, is required for overseas students.
