Entry requirements

Below is a list of countries with information on each about which qualifications we accept. If your country is not listed please email international@city.ac.uk.

  • UK

    A-level:
    CC
    Tariff:
    64 UCAS tariff points
    International Baccalaureate:
24 points and a minimum of 5 in SL Maths and English
    BTEC:
MMP. Health & Social Care, Applied Psychology, Learning and Development, Sport and Exercise Science.
    GCSE:
A minimum of five passes at grade 4 (C) at GCSE, including English Language and Mathematics. Functional Skills level 2 in Maths and English Language will also be considered.

    CTEC

CTEC Extended Diploma: MMP in Applied Science, Health and Social Care

We also accept other CTEC qualifications in combination with other qualifications such as A Level or BTEC. Your total grades should meet our advertised Tariff offer and will need to meet our subject requirements.

    T Levels

We also accept T Levels for this programme with grade P (D-E). This must be in Health, Science or Healthcare Science.

    University preparation programmes

If you do not qualify for direct entry, you may wish to take a foundation programme first. These programmes are designed to prepare students for entry to City's undergraduate courses.

    Access to HE Diploma

Pass in a QAA recognised Access to HE Diploma. Full award 60 credits with a minimum of 45 credits at Level 3 (18 credits at Distinction, the remaining credits can be a mixture of merits and passes).

    • Accepted pathways: Nursing, Midwifery, Health, Science, or Social Care related
    • Not accepted pathways: Nutrition or Paramedic Studies related.

GCSE requirements: GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4 (C) or above. Functional Skills level 2 in Maths and English will also be considered.

    Mixed qualifications

We may use tariff points for conditional offers, especially when applicants present mixed qualifications such as combinations of A-levels, BTECs and CTECs.

Please be aware that we may still ask for a specific score across certain qualifications and subjects e.g. 'This offer is conditional on you achieving 128 tariff points. This must include A-level Biology at grade B.'

    Subject exclusions

We do not accept General Studies and Critical Thinking. These subjects will not be included in any conditional offer we make.

    Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

We welcome applications from students who are completing relevant EPQ Projects. Whilst we recognise the value of these projects in preparing students for independent learning at university, the EPQ is unlikely to form part of any conditional offer we make.

We will consider the EPQ as part of the holistic assessment of the application and it could be used to form part of our final decision at Confirmation stage.

    AS levels

We recognise that there will be differences of opportunity varying by school and college. As not all students will have the opportunity to sit AS Level exams, it is unlikely we will include AS Level grades in any offer we choose to make.

Where students have completed an AS Level subject, we will consider this as part of the holistic assessment of the application and it could be used to form part of our final decision at Confirmation stage.

The Zimbabwe GCE A Level is considered on a grade for grade basis with GCE A Levels.
