For the 2023/24 academic year, we're delighted to share that the following students each received the School of Science & Technology's Dean’s Award for Professional Excellence (DAPE) 2024 from Executive Dean, Professor Rajkumar Roy, at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, 26 March:
Outstanding contribution to year-long placement
Mihaela Bargan, final year BSc Mathematics with Data Science student, second year placement with Ernst and Young (EY).
Outstanding contribution to year-long placement
Nasrin Jahan Khan, final year BSc Computer Science student, second year placement at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust)
Outstanding contribution to year-long placement
Dimitrios Tolis, alumnus of the BSc in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, who on graduation then completed a one-year placement at Jaguar Land Rover
Outstanding contribution to social impact
Fahim Abdullah, third year MEng in Electronics and Electrical Engineering student, spent year in industry on placement at GSK
Dean’s Award for Professional Excellence, 2025
The DAPE was established by the School of Science & Technology's Corporate Relations & Employability Unit (CREU) and seeks to recognise students who have produced excellent work during their placement year.
At the ceremony, the School also recognised its host placement partners with Special Recognition Awards for Outstanding Support of Industrial Placements presented to: Integrella, Rob Davies and Joseph Gallagher by the Executive Dean.

In attendance, supporting their students and colleagues, were Dr Chris Child, Associate Dean for Employability & Corporate Relations for the School, Professor Golnaz Badkobeh, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Professor Shabnam Beheshti, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Professor Asa Barber, Head of the Department of Engineering, and Roma Ivanauskaite, Work-based Learning Advisor, Corporate Relations & Employability Unit at the School of Science & Technology.
