This session is open to all individuals intrigued by the Journalism profession but is especially designed to give participants a taster of what studying any of City St George's, University of London’s MA Journalism or MA Podcasting courses is like.
Abstract
Interactive sessions
Our Journalism lecturers will run through two 15-minute interactive sessions. These will cover topics and skills that are taught across all of our postgraduate Journalism and Podcasting courses.
The interactive sessions will cover skills within the following areas:
- Interviewing Celebrities – Interviewing is a core skill for Journalists and Podcasters alike. You will explore background research skills, interview styles and techniques to bring out story worthy responses or navigate potentially sensitive or controversial topics whilst respecting professional boundaries.
- How to shoot a 30 second social media video – This interactive session will include top tips from our specialist staff on how to film for social media. As platforms evolve and how we consume Journalism changes, this is an important skill across all our MA Journalism programmes.
Short talks and Q&A session
Following the interactive sessions, there will be some short talks. These will be followed by a Q&A session, so you can talk to programme directors across all our courses.
All of this is designed to help you decide if City St George's Journalism is the right fit for you.
This talk is part of our Postgraduate Virtual Fair hosted on 11th - 13th March 2025.
N.B. this event is scheduled to take place online through the Zoom platform and all timings mentioned refer to UK time.
