Bex Burn-Callander is a freelance journalist, editor, author and podcaster specialising in small businesses, entrepreneurs, personal finance and economics. Former enterprise editor at The Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, she is the host of Sound Advice: Entrepreneurs Unfiltered, a UK top 10 business podcast, and editor of The Times/LDC 50 Most Ambitious Leaders programme.
Victor Schiller started his entrepreneurial career in the early 1980’s and over the last several decades he has started, built, and sold a range of technology related companies. Mr. Schiller holds seven technology patents and is now involved with R Cubed Group, a private equity fund investing in equities, fixed income, real estate, and strategic investments including early-stage companies. He is also currently a PhD Researcher at the Bayes Business School/City, University of London exploring micro-entrepreneurial ecosystems, minimum viable entrepreneurial ecosystems (MVEE)s and Cross Ecosystem Resource Sharing (CERS).
Among other corporate and non-profit boards Mr. Schiller served on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) IDEAS Global Challenge Advisory Board. MIT IDEAS supports innovation and entrepreneurship as public service by connecting students with the passion and talent to improve the world with the experience and resources of the MIT community worldwide. Mr. Schiller also lectures, mentors and has done a TEDx talk on his social enterprise work at MIT.
Jonathan Bean is a physicist holding an MPhys and PhD, he currently serves as the CEO of Materials Nexus. His expertise spans physics, computing, materials science, manufacturing, and biology, reflecting a rich academic and professional background.
During his half a decade tenure at Cambridge's Materials department, Jonathan played a pivotal role in conceiving and establishing the innovative Materials Nexus technology. This cutting-edge platform employs artificial intelligence to spearhead the development of groundbreaking materials, strategically addressing challenges in sustainability and supply chain management.
Jonathan's entrepreneurial skills have been evidenced through successfully securing $12 million from investors, including top-tier funds like Ada Ventures, Samos, HTGF, and Cambridge Enterprise. At the helm of a diverse 25-member team spread across various functions and locations, Jonathan has fostered a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment at Materials Nexus.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, he serves as a key advisor for the Royal Academy of Engineering, offering valuable strategic insights and making a contribution to the growth and development of emerging leaders across diverse industries.
Jonathan's influence extends into the venture capital landscape, where he serves as a venture scout for Positron Ventures. In this capacity, he actively seeks and evaluates potential investment opportunities, playing a crucial role in identifying promising companies for venture capital backing.
